Bird Flu in Korea
The Avian Influenza, known more commonly as the Bird Flu, has broadly swept the Korean peninsula. As of today (May 13, 2008) there have been 31 cases (including recent infections discovered in Busan) of Bird Flu infections in South Korea. The government of Korea has taken drastic measures to prevent the further spread of the deadly virus. As of late, according to the World Health Organization (WHO), more than 284 human deaths have been associated with the H5N1 virus. Thus far, none of those human infections has happened in Korea. However, the Korean government is not taking any chances. Recently, the government has ordered that all birds in Seoul be destroyed. These include: chickens, ducks, pheasants, and turkeys raised in farms, zoos and homes. Parrots and parakeets are exempt.
For those of us living in Jeolla Buk Do, the concerns are heightened since this is primarily an agricultural area, and since the highest concentration of infected cases has occurred in this province. A couple of weeks ago, farms in Jeolla Buk Do were found to have either knowingly or unknowingly shipped infected birds to restaurants throughout the province. The government quickly responded with military action by destroying millions of birds.
Today, the danger of the bird flu has not decreased but rather increased. Therefore, as Pastor of AICF, I would like to make the following recommendations for the safety and welfare of our AICF family.

Mexican Restaurants in Korea
I just happened to be surfing the 'Net the other day and stumbled upon reference to some Mexican restaurants in Korea. Turns out there are quite a few more than I'd originally discovered, in a few other cities as well. Check out the Galbijim website for more information.
Galbijim also has information about many other ethnic cuisines on their page. The great thing about Galbijim is that it's a Wiki, meaning that users can update and add information.
The "Mexican Food in Korea" link will become a permanent fixture on the AICF page in the "Other resources" heading in the side menu, as well as on the "Links" page.
